Non-urgent advice: Note
Ordering repeat medication
You can order your repeat medication by:
- using the NHS App
- dropping your repeat prescription slip in the box at reception
- sending it to us in the post
We’ll send your prescription to any pharmacy you choose. Our reception team can help you change your pharmacy, or you can do it through the NHS App.
Ordering acute medication
Some medicines are for one use and given by your doctor. These are acute prescriptions. You can’t order them like your usual medicine. Contact the surgery if you think you need more.
If you have a query about your medication
Pharmacists can answer your medication questions. You can also call us on 0151 639 4616 and we’ll arrange for you to talk to someone.
Finding your nearest pharmacy
Pharmacists can help with medicine use and small health issues. They can also give out prescriptions, provide emergency medicine, and give advice.
You can find a pharmacy using the NHS website.
Medication reviews
People on regular medicine need medication reviews. Your repeat prescription slip will remind you when it’s time. Please ensure you have your check-up to avoid delays in getting more medicine.
Over-the-counter medications
Our doctors usually won’t give you medicine you can buy yourself. This is government policy. Further information is available on the NHS website.
Medicines Waste Campaign
We need your help to reduce medicines waste in our area. We are asking patients who order repeat prescriptions to:
Only order what you need:
Check what medicines you have at home before you order, and only request the medicines you need this time. You will still be able to order others again in future.
Check your prescription bag straight away:
Check that you only have what you need before you leave the pharmacy, and that there’s nothing extra in there.
Let us know if your medicines are no longer right for you:
Talk to your pharmacy team or attend/request medication reviews to make sure medicines are optimised for you.
Take your medicines into hospital:
Keep a current list of your medicines on your NHS App, and take all your medicines in with you.
Dispose of medicines safely:
Return any unused or out of date medicines or inhalers to your pharmacy for safe disposal

Thank you for helping us reduce medicines waste
